Since the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) officially expanded its presence in the Pacific Northwest in June 2025, the Seattle-Taipei direct route has experienced unprecedented growth. Annual flight frequencies in 2025 soared to 1,502—an 80% increase from the previous year—while passenger volume jumped to 374,000. With this rapid expansion, the TTA is now focusing on converting this increased capacity into high-value bookings through precision marketing.

Data-Driven Precision: Targeting the "She-Economy" and Sustainability

Market insights reveal that 80-85% of family travel decisions are led by women, and 75% of American travelers prioritize sustainable travel options. In alignment with these trends, the Taiwan Tourism Information Center (TTIC) in San Francisco has launched the "Her Eco-Journey: 2026 U.S. West Coast Media FAM Trip." Executed by My Taiwan Tour Travel Service Co., Ltd., the itinerary is tailored specifically for solo female travelers, focusing on wellness, immersive culture, and sustainability. The project moves beyond traditional sightseeing to create "experience-oriented" narratives that resonate with premium North American audiences.

Unprecedented Collaboration: Three Major Carriers Join Forces

In a rare strategic alliance, China Airlines, EVA Air, and STARLUX Airlines have collaborated simultaneously on this media project—a first for the industry. Beyond supporting travel for the media delegation, the carriers are showcasing their distinct brand strengths, including cabin designs, in-flight catering, premium amenities, and themed liveries. This partnership aims to transform flight "capacity" into "market appeal" amid intensifying competition on the Seattle-Taipei route.

Her Eco-Journey: Crafting a Healing Narrative through Cultural Depth

The itinerary focuses on "Mindful Living" and "Deep Immersion," allowing media representatives to experience Taiwan’s unique lifestyle aesthetics:

  • Water-Moon Dharma Center, Nung Chan Monastery: A minimalist architectural space where water reflections foster introspection and peace.

  • Kavalan Distillery: An exploration of world-class whisky aged in a subtropical climate, reflecting Taiwan’s terroir and resilience.

  • Eco-Friendly Sky Lanterns in Pingxi: A patented sustainable design that allows traditional rituals to coexist with environmental preservation.

  • Indigenous Connection: A visit to the Bulau Bulau in Yilan to experience a sustainable way of life passed down through generations in harmony with nature.

Insights from the Media: A New Perspective on Taiwan's Charm

Following their deep dive into these experiences, the media participants—all esteemed members of the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA)—shared their authentic reflections:

  • Nancy Mueller (Founder of Wanderboomer): "Amidst the vibrant energy of Taipei, Nung Chan Monastery stands out as a true oasis of calm. The 'Water Bowl' mindfulness practice was a personal highlight, allowing me to find balance and savor every sensation of this incredible journey."

  • Emily Molina (Journalist, Southwest Travel & Life): "Visiting the Bulao Bulao aboriginal village felt like stepping into a hidden, magical world. Seeing how their generations-old sustainable lifestyle exists in perfect harmony with nature was a truly rare and meaningful experience."

  • Marguerite “Peggy” Cleveland (Contributor, SheBuysTravel): "I’ve been deeply impressed by Taiwan's warmth, cleanliness, and the profound sense of safety I felt. A major highlight was exploring the geological wonder of Beitou Thermal Valley and ending with a relaxing private soak at the Marshal Zen Garden."

Director Sylvia Lee: Precision Marketing with "Taiwan 100 Ways"

"Since entering the Pacific Northwest market in June 2025, we’ve observed a shift from traditional sightseeing to travel focused on deep experiences," said Sylvia Lee, Director of the TTIC in San Francisco. "Our goal is not just to increase visitor numbers, but to target high-quality female decision-makers. The joint participation of three national carriers demonstrates long-term industry confidence in the Seattle market. Through our 'Taiwan 100 Ways' global campaign, we want international travelers to find their own unique way to experience Taiwan."
